Sidewalks with a median strip would slow traffic and offer students a median they can cross to for safe waiting.

There are no sidewalks and places to walk.

The community may want to examine a specific school for routes which could be installed to accommodate walking trips for some children in neighborhood schools. This could be a way to set priorities for sidewalk installations.

One issue with schools is that schools tend not to locate in neighborhoods. Schools may not be considering operating costs when they are selecting school sites and make their selections based on the lowest costs. Lifetime costs could help persuade them to choose better sites. Perhaps developers could be required to set aside school sites. Base decisions on more than construction costs, including roundabout or signals.

The city should try to have sidewalks, lighting, and other amenities included in current projects. The city may have to pay the difference, but it will be more cost effective to do it now than to go back later.

Fire District covers 55 square miles.

Witty Road s-curves are a problem. Skewed intersections. Need to slow people before s-curves. Missing links (within subdivisions) are on a list with the city.

There are several intersections on a list they would like to have examined.

Send a video to Jennifer so they can see the roundabout work.

Group 4
School and Community Services

Ramon welcomed the group and explained that a charrette is designed to elicit as much input as possible from the public and that the Team is here to listen to their ideas. Each person was invited to introduce themselves and tell a little about what brought them to the community and what they like about it.
