The City of Maple Valley Parks & Recreation Department has a year-around schedule of activities and special events at Lake Wilderness Park and Lodge. See below for the most current information on upcoming special events.
July 10th - August 28th, Lake Wilderness Park
Lake Wilderness Park Amphitheatre is the place. Back by popular demand, Music in the Park will feature top local, regional, and national bands in the state's most beautiful natural amphitheatre. Click here for a complete list of entertainment.
Saturday, August 9th, Lake Wilderness Park, 11:00 a.m.
The 2008 NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the Lake Wilderness Park. The competition is a FREE event that tests individual player's football skills in punting, passing, and kicking from a tee. The competition is open to boys and girls ages 8-15. The top finishers in each age and gender division advance to the next competition and could advance to the National Finals at the Super Bowl!
All participants must provide a birth certificate or baptism record and must compete in tennis or flat-soled shoes only; no cleats are allowed.
Thursday, August 28th, 8:45 p.m., following the Groove House Band
The featured film is Ratatouille. In this Pixar animated comedy Remy loves fine French food, which is a problem since he happens to be a rat. He lives in an expensive French restaurant and desires to become a chef despite the disapproval of his father and brother who are happy eating garbage. He has adventures every day with a rat-despising staff that wants him gone in the riotous family film. Click here for the complete news release.
Saturday, September 13th, Lake Wilderness Park, 11:00 a.m.
The 2008 WRPA Soccer Challenge will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the Lake Wilderness Park. The challenge is a FREE event that tests individual player's soccer skills in dribbling, performing a throw-in, taking a goal kick, and shooting penalty shots. The challenge is open to all boys and girls ages 5-14. The top two finishers in each age and gender division advance to compete for the State title in Lacey, Washington.
All participants must provide a birth certificate or baptism record and must compete in tennis shoes or soccer cleats only; no baseball or football cleats allowed. Additionally, contestants must compete with the soccer balls provided by Maple Valley Parks & Recreation.
