On July 12th, the City Council adopted the final master plan and selected a phasing plan that will result in the park being developed in three (3) separate construction phases over the next several years.
Phase one, has an anticipated construction start date of late 2011 or early 2012, includes the following program:
- One lighted rectangular sports field
- One lighted youth softball/baseball field
- A trailhead access to King County’s Lake Wilderness Trail
- A combined restroom and concession building
- A park entrance road with 6’ sidewalk off SE 276th St.
- 150 parking spaces
The City is pursuing a matching grant with the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO), and is looking to supplement that with a variety of city funding sources including park development funds, and Real Estate Excise Tax (REET) funds. In addition, the project is contingent on a voter approved bond issue being considered for 2011.
