The City does not have a general business license requirement, but does require special licenses for the following:
- Amusement Device Places
- Amusement Place
- Pool and Billiard Tables
- Public Dance Places
- Secondhand Dealer or Pawn Broker
- Outdoor Musical Entertainment
- Limited Special Uses (Street or Facility)

The City does not permit transient sales (soliciting) except as allowed by MVMC 5.05.020. The permitted activities are not licensed, but the City should be notified of places and dates of permitted activities to insure City laws are enforced.
With respect to general business licensing, a business must have a State business license. In reporting taxes to the State, for work done in Maple Valley, Maple Valley's location code is 1720 and must be included in the appropriate place on the State tax return.
